Nicolas Altstaedt, conductor and cello
Haydn deserves just as much recognition as Mozart on the forefront of the Vienna music scene! This extremely productive composer spent thirty years of his life in the service of the Esterházy princes in Eisenstadt, not far from the Austrian capital. It was in this town's castle that Viennese and Hungarian musicians founded in 1987 the Haydn Philharmonie. The orchestra continues to honour the father of the symphony under Nicolas Altstaedt, an outstanding musician who excels both as a cellist and a conductor.
