Florian Boesch, baritone
Justus Zeyen, piano
Hugo von Hofmannsthal is one of the founders of the Salzburg Festival. This Viennese, however, is above all one of the most outstanding Austrian writers of the 20th century and the author of several librettos for Richard Strauss' operas. Frank Martin had himself planned to compose an opera based on Hofmannsthal's play Jedermann. In 1943, this Geneva-born composer finally came up with a gripping song cycle for baritone and piano. The music enhances the text and the voice in an outstanding manner and a mastery that already distinguishes Franz Schubert's Lieder.
Franz Schubert (1797-1828) - Lieder
Frank Martin (1890-1974) - Monologues from Jedermann
