Igor Markevitch: an exhibition

Regular guest at the Septembre Musical, composer and conductor Igor Markevitch has left a clear mark in the region of Lake Geneva to which he was very attached. To mark the 100th birthday of his birth, an exhibition is organized at the Château de Chillon from August 25 to October 28, 2012 paying tribute to this great artist; a witness of the artistic and musical trends of the past century.

Visit Villa "La Chance", the last residence of Paul Hindemith

Saturday 08.09.2012 11h00 (the visit will last approximately 1h30)

Come discover the wonderful residence of Paul Hindemith, where he and his wife moved to in 1953, above Blonay. The villa has remained as it was when the Hindemiths lived there! The house, the garden and its pavilion have a fantastic view on the Blonay castle, the Lake Léman and the Alps. François Margot will talk about the life and the work of Paul Hindemith.

Septembre Musical archives were produced by Christian Labrande (Classifilms) giving new life to old recordings. The video includes great artists that have performed at the Septembre Musical since its inception in 1946, such as Wilhelm Furtwängler, Otto Klemperer, Ernest Ansermet, Josef Krips, Charles Munch, György Cziffra, Christian Ferras, Nikita Magaloff, Alexis Weissenberg and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf.
